MGLSF – current read

So I am almost finished with Redshirts by John Scalzi. So far I have enjoyed the book but I’m not sure whether it is actually any good. It was funny, nerdy and well written. However it felt like something was missing. I’m not sure what that elusive missing thing is but throughout the book I’ve felt like there should’ve been an extra paragraph or sentence here and there. Not that there is anything actually missing when I re-read parts only that it feels like there should be more.

That said, still a fun read and well worth a shot!

MGLSF – New book (down)

So I’ve started and finished the new book, namely The Hanging Tree. I finished a couple of days ago and managed to get through it in 2 sessions. I enjoyed reading it but it’s not the best in the series. It was good though and I’d recommend the book and series for anyone that enjoys the Dresden Files or similar. Lots of action, mystery and thrills.

MGLSF – Return to comics

Confession time, I used to read comics a lot. Far too much. I went cold turkey for a few years and now I’m getting back into them with one caveat. I’m only buying electronic copies. This has made me look at Marvel Unlimited subscription and after an it of back and forth I signed up (I’m more of a DC fan so I was on the fence). Without being hooked as I was before I am really enjoying picking up a series or a run especially as I am reading things I didn’t get into previously. Here’s my latest series and I’m loving it.my advice to anyone sitting on the fence, take the plunge !

MGLSF – would you kindly … WANT!

After playing the games individually this is a want! Love the story, love the gameplay and I think the art for the collection is amazing. Simple and clever all in one !

MGLSF – new book, Alien Arcana by Glynn Stewart

I’ve been reading the Starship Mage series since I first googled ‘Magic in space’ and led me to this series. This is book 4 and the series is really going from strength to strength. I have to be honest I do prefer a little more detail on the how the Magic systems work in my books but this one makes up for that with an engaging story. The books have more of a mystery solving element to them than I was expecting but it works very well. Hopefully I’ll tear through this one and give an update !

MGLSF – New book !

I have a new actual physical book! I’m quite excited about it and it seems to fit right into my current tastes. I’ve gone down the local Costa, got myself a tea and settled into a high back chair. Time to lose myself for an hour of two
